Millennium

We welcomed in the millennium at a local friend's New Year Party. There was a 007 theme, fireworks at midnight and a bouncy castle in the dining room to entertain the children. Abigail slept through most of it, but Joshua kept going until 2.00 am.

Whilst on a Millennium theme, we can record that we went to the Dome twice and enjoyed it. Marcus went a third time for a work Christmas Party. The children's favourite zone was Timekeepers where they could shoot foam balls at each other whilst being blasted with lots more balls from cannons and rockets.

Joshua's News

I've had a very busy year with lots of new interests to keep me busy. That is when I'm not playing with my little sister. She is a bit more fun now she's 2 and Mum and Dad are particularly pleased when I entertain her on Sunday morning so they can have a lie in. I do little jobs like that but only so I might get extra pocket money.

I go to Beavers after School, it's really "cool" we get to run around lots and play games and have sweets . I also play football after school and get really muddy. Mum says I should clean my boots but I can't see the point they only get covered in mud again next week. At school I'm learning the recorder and I can play "Hot Cross Buns" without the music. I'm in the top year at School (age 6) now. Mum and Dad have been taking me round to look at new schools. They can't make their mind up where to send me but I want to go to the "chess" school where they play chess at lunchtime as this sounds really great.

Bits & Pieces

Our Internet home page had over 1,400 "hits" during 2000.

In October we went to the Scripture Union conference "The BIG Picture" in Eastbourne.

Abigail's News

Abigail and Doll

Hello, "Abidail" (Abigail) here. I'm a big girl now, no more nappies, no cot and I go to "Thumb" (Tom Thumb Nursery) twice a week. Painting is what I like doing best, especially if there is "Yelly" (Yellow) paint my favourite.

Mummy says she is going to paint my room "Yelly" but she still hasn't found time, "Silly Mummy". Talking about Yelly I really like Pooh (the Bear that is) and my baby (doll). "Doshy" (Joshua) is my BIG brother, he's quite good sometimes except when he tries to organise me, then I have to pull his hair. Mummy says that I shouldn't do that, can't think why!

Travels

At the BIG bank (remember the Anthony Hopkins TV avert?) Marcus gained responsibility for a small team and also continues as a "Solutions Delivery Manager" specialising in electronic payments. Joy after being displaced from her previous role, joined the Bank's Electronic Banking Department as a "Business Architect". Which strangely has nothing to do with buildings. Fortunately the new role is still part-time.

Holidays were a low key affair this year mainly due to the timing of Marcus's operation in the summer. In the spring we had a weekend away in Oslo (without the children). During the Easter break we went for the first time to "Spring Harvest" (a Christian family conference) in Minehead. Joshua really enjoyed himself. To give an idea of the scale there were 500 5 to 7 year olds! Abigail was less impressed with the idea of staying in the crèche.

Marcus's News

Marcus ended up in hospital in the summer after a visit to the doctor with stomach pains. The problem turned out to be gallstones. He came home after a few days and a few weeks later returned to hospital to have his gall bladder removed.
